This simple fence/wall extension was executed by @MasterDecksCT 🛠️ for a client of ours in Newlands 🌲 this week.

We replaced the tired old - same old - pine trellis with a more modern horizontal design that will play its part in transforming this backyard from an eyesore into a peaceful retreat for the client 👌

Especially when the landscaper pots and plants mature creepers to grow up and along the screen extension 🌿🍃🪴

We used Thermory Pine (@thermorydesign) which was supplied by @thedeckingwarehouse for this project - it is light weight, and due to the thermal treatment it has undergone, is less prone to warping 💪

A Moso Bamboo decking installation by @MasterDecksCT 🛠️ on the 6th and 7th floor for a major international tenant, at a very well-known new building in Cape Town 🏗️🏙️👌

The project presented a logistical challenge which @MasterDecksCT took in our stride, delivering the completed deck on time, and without any hitches 👏🙏

13,357km of decking planks - if laid end to end
7220 decking planks used
41 366kg of decking planks
32 900 clips and screws

And that excludes the pine substructure! 🫣

Just look at a few of the material statistics listed above and note we carried all those materials from the 3rd floor basement to the 6th or 7th floor by hand, or by a single service elevator which was shared by all trades 😲💪

@MasterDecksCT 🛠️ recently completed this deck replacement for a client in Oudekraal 🌊

Although old, the decking planks appeared to be in not too bad a condition, however the substructure was rotten 😱and the hardware had rusted. Whomever installed this deck many years ago, took short cuts using timber bearers without enough posts to bear the weight of the deck. Of course this lead to the inevitable collapse 😣

All the decking planks needed to be removed and the entire rotten substructure replaced.
As expected, the underside of the decking planks were also rotten and needed replacing. Which we did with new 19 x 90mm Garapa decking 🤎

The client’s new deck looks amazing 👏and is the perfect place to soak up the exceptional views 🌅

Out with the old and in with the new 🎉🎉

@MasterDecksCT 🛠️ was recently entrusted with this @cobaltprojects and @juma_architecture_interiors renovation in Kommetjie.

The project involved:
- Removing the tired old decking, and reinforcing the existing pine substructure that was not built to code.
- Extending the decked area.
- Removing the existing pergola and replacing it with a crisp white Pine roof structure, new Garapa cladding and steps.
- Removing and replacing the lower pool deck.

The results speak for themselves – the client’s home has had a complete outdoor facelift 👌 and is ready to be enjoyed to the max for the summer season ☀️💦 Cheers! 🥂

@MasterDecksCT 🛠️ returned to a customer of ours in Simonstown this week to extend the Garapa Deck and slatted pergola which we built for them 2 years ago 👌

We added more usable area to this amazing sundowner deck 🍹 and it has now created the perfect outdoor area for both lounging and dining outdoors. Just in time for summer and a place to soak up the amazing view of the bay. 🌅

The new timber will age to a silver/grey in about 6 months’ time to match the older Garapa 🩶

With only 20 working days given to complete this project – and 80 days of work required 😱 - @MasterDecksCT assigned multiple teams to finish this incredible project on time for @daviddugmoreprojects and the guests who were booked in at the glorious @villa_lion_view in Constantia 🌄

Did we mention that 8 of those 20 days were completely rained out during one of the wettest July’s ever on record? ☔️ It’s for this reason that you can rely on Master Decks - even when the weather is not playing ball.

On this project we utilised a number of different timbers & finishes which were combined to bring the architect’s vision to life. Treated SA Pine for the wall cladding (sealed and stained with @pronature_sa), @rhino_wood left natural for the ceiling accents, screens and decking. Garapa was also used for the more structural elements such as the pergolas and oversized stair treads. 👌

The brief was to replace the old pine decking with new Garapa decking planks, and to replace the existing steps with a less steep staircase to make access a little easier for visiting parents to climb.

What we found when opening the deck was shocking. 😱All the joist spacings were incorrect and not to spec. Even more frightening was that some of the posts for the roof structure above were not attached to any substructure or foundations – only supported the old decking planks! 🤯

Team Bezel notified the office immediately and materials were rushed through to secure the posts before we continued 💪
